Introduction

At Axeptio, we know that staying compliant with privacy regulations can sometimes feel overwhelming… but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! In addition to GDPR, our widget is now equipped to handle the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). With this new feature, you can ensure your site stays compliant without losing your sanity—or your users!

💡 Note: This feature is only available for our BRANDS banner.

What is CCPA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a law designed to protect the personal data of California residents, giving them more control over how their information is used. Here’s what it means for you:

✅ Clearly inform users about what data you collect (no hiding behind fine print!).
✅ Give them the option to opt out of data sharing ("Do Not Sell My Personal Information"—because nobody likes being tracked without knowing it).
✅ Allow users to access, delete, or request details about their personal data.

⚠️ Important: The CCPA is not compatible with the Consent Wall feature.

How to Enable CCPA Mode on Axeptio?

1. Head to Compliance Settings

  • Log in to Axeptio.
  • Select the project that needs a compliance upgrade.
  • Choose a configuration that follows CCPA regulations.

2. Set Up Widget Display & Behavior

Axeptio gives you flexibility in how your consent banner appears on your site:

🔹 Hide the banner and auto-opt-in users – Users are automatically opted in, but you must provide an opt-out link.
🔹 Display the banner with default opt-in – The banner appears, but users must manually opt out, and cookies are accepted by default.
🔹 Display the banner and wait for consent – No cookies are dropped until the user explicitly consents via the banner.

3. Save and Publish!

  • Click "Save" to apply your settings.
  • Click "Publish" to activate the changes on your site.
