Why the widget doesn't update on my website when I publish?

You have just baked fresh cookies and your website does not display them properly in its window?

No worries! We explain here how to solve the problem 🤗

it is not so complicated, not enough to make a cookie crumble ! you just need to :

  • Clear your browser’s cache 🍪

  • check that the script integrated on your website is the corresponding one to the version you want to publish

Clear the cache

Indeed, if after having made your modification and clicked on "Publish" you do not see the changes on your website, this may be due to the fact that your web browser has saved a previous version of your site in cache and systematically proposes it when you connect to it.

By clearing the cache you will have access to the most recent and updated version of your site, thus the one presenting the modified widget.

🍪 Another tip: you can also put yourself in “incognito mode”, this allows you to surf the web without any cache or cookie history 😉.

My banner does not display the same steps as those shown in the Axeptio admin preview

If you have integrated Axeptio via a CMS integration (Shopify, WordPress, etc.), the integration may automatically add an additional step to manage services specific to the platform:

  • Shopify cookies in the case of a Shopify integration: the purposes listed on this step cannot be modified, and this screen cannot be removed for regulatory reasons.

  • Cookies generated by your other plugins in the case of a WordPress integration.

  • …and so on!

Checking the Axeptio script 🔎

If you have multiple versions of your widget and have just tried to publish a different version than the one currently on your site, the script integrated on your website may not have a Cookie version name. Without this, the widget will automatically load the first available version in your list.

👉 This looks like:

Here👇

the script with the Cookies Version name that you can find by clicking on the "Integration on your website" tab when you are in your configuration :
