Publishing Options

Written by Alexandre Dias Da Silva

In the Axeptio admin, no changes are deployed to your site until you publish them. You can thus evolve your configurations, adjust the design or update legal information without immediately impacting what is displayed to visitors.

As long as your changes are not published:

  • the banner present on your site remains unchanged;

  • only already published versions continue to be used.

👉 It is therefore necessary to publish your changes with each modification.

If you notice that your banner does not reflect the current state of your configuration in the Axeptio admin, the most common cause is simply that the changes have not yet been published.

This mode of operation allows you to prepare your changes in advance, adjust your configurations peacefully and decide precisely when changes are made visible on your site.

Launch a publication

When your changes are ready to be deployed, click the yellow Publish button, located in the top right of the interface. The publication window Publishing options opens and allows you to choose precisely what will be published.

By default, if you click Publish at the bottom of the publication window without modifying other options, only design changes and information related to the DPO will be published.

If you also wish to publish changes made to the configurations of your various products, remember to manually select the corresponding configurations.

Details of the sections of the "Publishing options" publication window

Project settings

This section groups the global parameters of your project.

  • Publish design changes

    Check to publish modifications made in the Colors and style page:

    colors, fonts, graphic styles and appearance of Axeptio elements.

  • Publish DPO changes

    Check to publish information entered in Project Information > Data Protection Officer (DPO), such as the DPO's name or contact address displayed to users.

Axeptio product configurations

Depending on the products enabled in your project, the publication window displays one or more sections bearing the name of these products. Each section lists the configurations associated with the product in question.

You may notably find sections for:

  • Cookie banners (Brands product),

  • TCF cookie banner (Publishers product),

  • Marketing consent collection (Subs product),

  • Terms, used for managing Terms of Use / Terms of Sale.

👉 For each product, check the configurations you wish to publish.

This allows you to choose precisely which configurations are included in the publication, and which are not.

Geolocation

The publication window also allows you to enable banner geolocation, in order to automatically load the most suitable configuration based on the visitor's location.

Geolocation can be enabled:

  • for the Brands product (section Cookie banners);

  • and/or for the Publishers product (section TCF cookie banner).

👉 Check the geolocation option to enable automatic selection of configurations based on the country or geographic area of the visitor.

To understand the operation in detail, the priority rules and use cases, refer to the article dedicated to geolocation.

Finalize publication

💡 Good practice: before publishing, verify that all the configurations you wish to deploy are properly checked, especially on projects with multiple products, languages or geographic areas.

Once your selections are made:

  • click Publish to make the changes effective on your site;

  • or click Integrate on your site if you wish to see the possible integration options.

Once publication is launched, a confirmation message appears in the top right of the interface and remains visible throughout the publication process (usually less than 5 minutes).

After publication, it is possible that your browser still displays a previous version of the configuration, due to caching.

If you do not immediately see your changes on your site:

  • clear your browser cache,

  • or open your site in private browsing,

  • or test with another browser.
