Availability: Pay or Consent is an option of the TCF Widget (Publishers). You can access it only from a Publishers banner: the settings section described below does not exist in standard Cookies widgets.
1. What is Pay or Consent for?
The Pay or Consent (also called Consent or Pay) is an access banner that gives visitors two clear choices to access your site:
Accept cookies ā access remains free, but visitor data is shared for personalized advertising.
Subscribe (pay) ā access is provided without cookies/tracking, via a subscription.
(And, for an already subscribed visitor: log in to access content directly.)
For whom? Publishers and media sites. Their business model depends on advertising revenue or subscriptions: a simple consent wall is not always enough. Pay or Consent guarantees an exploitable outcome regardless of the visitor's choice: either cookie placement or subscription revenue.
Axeptio's approach remains educational, clear and simple: thanks to short texts and illustrations, the visitor immediately understands the two options and makes an informed choice.
2. Configure the banner, field by field
All settings are found in the Ā«Consent or Pay settingĀ» panel (on the right). Each value entered is immediately reflected in the preview on the left.

2.1 Website name displayed

If left empty, the interface displays Ā«This field is required.Ā» and publication is blocked.

2.2 Price, currency and subscription frequency
These three fields together make up the price sentence seen by the visitor (the line Ā«I pay ā¬Xā¦Ā»).

Enter a real rate: a price of 0 produces an incoherent sentence (Ā«I pay ā¬0.00 monthlyĀ») and empties the model of its meaning.

2.3 Advertising for subscribers

Only enable it if it is true: if your subscribers still see advertising, leave it OFF.

2.4 Partial consent button

If the interface displays Ā«The URL entered is invalidā¦Ā», it means the protocol or domain is missing: enter the full URL (https:// + domain + path).

2.6 Redisplay the banner (CMP resurfacing)

2.7 Compliance options
The Ā«Compliance optionsĀ» section (at the bottom of the panel) groups settings related to your obligations, starting with the Ā«Manage cookiesĀ» link to integrate on your site, to allow the visitor to withdraw consent as easily as they gave it.
3. Customize the appearance
Like the Publishers CMP, Pay or Consent has its own graphical interface via Ā«Customize the widget lookĀ» in the editor. The interface is streamlined to display only elements truly customizable on this type of banner. Customization remains linked to your other Publishers configurations (overall visual consistency).
4. Track performance (Analytics)
The Pay or Consent banner introduces new buttons (Subscribe, Log-in), so new indicators in your statistics:
A marker placed on your existing graphs, marking the moment of transition to Pay or Consent (to identify before/after).
Subscribe and Connect rates: the proportion of visitors who subscribe or log in.
Consent distribution by device, adapted to the Pay or Consent format.
5. Check and publish
Publication (the Ā«PublishĀ» button, top right) is only possible if all required fields are valid.
Checklist before publication:
