CCPA Regulations, How to Implement CCPA Compliance

Written by Alexandre Dias Da Silva

Manage CCPA with Axeptio (and stay zen!)

Introduction

At Axeptio, we know that regulatory compliance can sometimes give you cold sweats
but don't worry, we're here to make things easier for you! In addition to GDPR, our widget is now equipped to handle the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). With this new feature, you can ensure that your site is compliant without losing your peace of mind (or your users!).

This feature is only available for our BRANDS banner.

CCPA is also available on the APP SDK!

What is CCPA?

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) is a law that protects the data of California residents and gives them more control over what is done with it. Basically, here's what it means for you:

  • Clearly tell users what information you collect (no hide and seek!).

  • Give them the choice to opt out of sharing their data ("Do Not Sell My Personal Information", because nobody likes being watched without knowing it).

  • Allow them to access, delete or request more information about their precious data.

  • Be careful, CCPA is not compatible with the use of Consent Wall.

How to activate CCPA mode on Axeptio?

1. Head to compliance settings

  • Log in to Axeptio.

  • Select your project (the one that needs a compliance polish).

  • Choose a configuration with CCPA regulation (Here "USA (California)")

2. Configure the display and behavior of the widget

Axeptio allows you to choose how your consent banner displays on your site:

  • Hide the banner and accept all by default: Users are automatically opt-in, but you must provide an unsubscribe link.

  • Display the banner while opting for default acceptance: The banner is displayed, but users must choose to opt out and cookies will be accepted by default.

  • Display the banner and wait for consent: No cookies are placed until the user has consented on the banner

3. Save and publish!

  • Click on "Save" to keep your settings.

  • Click on "Publish" to make it all take effect on your site

With Axeptio, staying compliant becomes (almost) child's play! 🎉
